There are several issues facing the industry,  all of critical importance to the sustainability and viability of primary industries in the NT.  Issues from water allocation to climate change to sourcing advice and information are all high priority issues.  The NT Agricultural Association is helping individuals and the industry tackle and address many of these issues at the grass roots level.  Through its projects and on-farm work, the association is assisting the industry better understand water use and efficient irrigation practice.  It is promoting  better community engagement in the water planning and allocation process which is currently underway in many districts in the NT. 

A project is underway to assist producers manage their regrowth sustainably and bring previously cleared country back into production.  The Association is  actively promoting good land-use practice,  running erosion management workshops and providing information on how good land management plays a role in mitigating green house gas emissions.

The association actively sources funding from Caring for Our Country, NRM Board of the NT and various agencies and will continue to work with industry and other stakeholders to help address these important issues and challenges.
