Membership Benefits

 

The Northern Territory Agricultural Association (NTAgA) was established in 1996 and continues to represent the interests of a diverse group of primary producers and agribusiness in the Northern Territory. NTAgA ensures there is a voice for agriculture and for those working and investing in the industry.

NTAgA is a small but vibrant organization which represents the industry on a range of committees and Government bodies that frame policies related to natural resource management, land clearing and development and water allocation and planning. The Association actively sources funding from State and Federal agencies for industry based projects, such as irrigation, efficiency, re-growth control, soil conservation and technical publications.

The Association works closely with other primary industry groups and stakeholders in advancing the needs of industry. NTAgA also provides tailored and independent technical advice on a range of agronomic and development topics where these can be discussed on-farm. 

Agriculture and the policies that affect it are rapidly changing resulting in many new challenges. NTAgA is striving to assist industry meet these challenges in a number of ways.  Strong industry representation, a good membership base and targeted industry projects are the principal ways NTAgA can assist industry advance.

The services provided by NTAgA include:

  • Promotion of primary industry to Government and the community as a positive and sustainable industry for the Northern Territory
  • Representation to Government on a range of issues which affect the industry
  • Promotion and advice on sustainable land-use practices
  • Specialist technical advice, information and on-farm visits
  • Technical material and publications, i.e. project reports and technical material etc
  • Sourcing State and Federal funding for specific industry projects
  • Seminars and workshops on industry topics, i.e. hay production, irrigation, soil conservation
  • Conduit and network between other key industry organisations, NT Cattleman and NT Horticultural Associations, funding bodies and Government departments
  • Newsletter and web site as sources of information
